You might be wondering about ICD. The full title is the 'Institute of Cultural Diplomacy.'      In this globalized world, people from around the world can easily contact each other by mass communication technology. ICD tried to make peace in reality by influencing the "Global Public Opinion" and ideology of individuals, communities, cultures or nations. They found out 5 principles which will bring peace and stability:

1.Respect & Recognition of Cultural Diversity & Heritage
2.Global Intercultural dialogue
3.Justice, equality & interdependence
4.The protection of international human rights
5.Global peace & stability

Even they have practiced for centuries, peace is still not fostering throughout the world. However, they have met the man who has the answer for world peace. The peace advocate, Mah-Hee Lee attended the ICD conference in Italy and made a speech about the peace material. By his powerful speech, everyone in the conference room even reporters were amazed by his works and they all promised to be the peace emissaries.

Children’s Day

Do you see children as a human being and respect their characters? Or do you just see them as troublesome children who don’t have any maturity to take care of themselves? Honestly, I never thought of the importance of children. In Korea, there is a word that ‘children are the future leader of the society.’ To let the children to give hopes and dreams, and hoping them to grow wisely and bravely, they celebrate Children’s Day on May 5th.

After the Independence movement on March 1st, a man named Bang Jung-Hwan started to celebrate Children’s Day starting in 1927 in order to implant national consciousness to the children. It stopped in 1939 under the pressure of Japanese government during Japanese colonization. Then, started again in 1946 after Korea was independent. In 1970, Children’s Day became the official national holiday.

Since Children’s Day is coming, what will you do on that day? It is a holiday but it is important to think about how will I implant national consciousness to the children, and since it is a global world, not only about their own nation but we should also implant global consciousness. Moreover, teach them to love their nation and the whole world. Most importantly, they should learn the importance about world peace-no discrimination by races, religion, and nation-and let them know how to live in harmony with other people around the world. Just by saying these words, the children will grow up as a global leader. Let’s try to say to the kids for this time shall we?:-)

Graduate Institute of Peace Studies

It is true that in the 21st century, all people including you and I are advanced by science and technology and most of the people believe that made us better lives because it made our world globally and eliminated boundaries among nations which made easier to increase materialism by international trade. The second cause is the reason that I don’t think people is living a better life. Because of its increase of materialism, the human dignity has fallen to the ground. People value materials than human rights, and this has been so long that we can easily see this world is a dehumanized society.
You already know the world is degrading and deep down in your heart, you also want peace. Everyone does! Many people are trying hard to make peace. I even saw a school in Korea that was established for the purpose of making peace. It is a graduate school of Kyung-Hee University, Graduate Institute of Peace Studies.

The school introduces itself:

Established to play a vital role in the creation of a new global society, one that will be spiritually beautiful, materially affluent and humanly rewarding-a society. The Institute's purpose is to educate and train able and peace-oriented international leaders for the future of mankind. The academic program is designed to meet future leadership demands by training students to be well-rounded leaders of the future with a focus on the following:

1. Understanding Human Nature and Societies

2. Building the Power of integrated Thinking

3. Pursuit of Practical Methods to Construct a New World Order

4. Nurturing Peace-oriented Human Nature

I found this school amazing and was touched by the effort of human beings trying to make peace for the world. I hope many people will be touched by this also and try to put some effort on making world peace.
