Declaración de la Paz, Man Hee Lee

We appeal to the heads of state of all countries to sign an international agreement - a commitment to end all wars. We ask that you do so in a spirit of deep love for the people of his country.
-A portion of the Declaration of World Peace -
                                                                                            (Written by Lee Man Hee)

Today, there are thousands of people living in this world. In this situation, as it used to be, we need someone who can muster to have the power to benefit all these people and do things. The power here is that you can not control people but to lead a good life. There is no other option to use this power as useless or wrong. Since this power came from the people who elected the leader, the leader must take care of these people and try to give them a better life.
However, from our history that used to be a bad leader misunderstands and uses this power as his own benefit. This makes a lot of sacrifice and is not remembered as a happy memory for all the people. Because there is great responsibility in this power, the leader must be wise to check this power.
Still, in this world there are wars going on, That means there are some leaders who use this power selfishly. A power not welcoming nor want. If leaders know this and if they can not use them well, they have to get out of there hands.
As we know, all of us want peace in our lives and in the world. However, if the leader does support world peace, he or she is doing well. As the Declaration of World Peace, which is written by Lee Hee Man, people love their leaders and should bring them peace. This is what they have to do now is to be done as soon as possible. Man Hee Lee, leader of world peace, is begging to be a wise leader and to achieve world peace.
We also need people to show compassion to our peace so that the leader can make a right decision.

Man Hee Lee logró la paz en Mindanao, el conflicto entre el Islam y católica

Ever heard of the 40 years of deep conflicts in Mindanao? Korean peace activist Man Hee Lee, the representative organization of the peace accords helped make peace between the two religious leaders of different faiths; Catholic and Islam. For 40 years, there were over 1.4 million dollars in damages and loss of life on this island.

Map of the Philippines, The Economist

The peace agreement was achieved when President Lee was making his third trip to the Philippines peace.

Mindanao is an island in the Philippines, who had suffered more than four decades, due to the dispute between Catholic and Islam. Despite the beauty of the island, Mindanao was known for his long conflict. In order to bring peace to this region, the peace activist President Archbishop Antonio J. Lee President Lee hosted the Peace Walk, with over 1,000 participants gathered. Students, members of the organization of the leaders of religious peace and walked together in the hope of peace in Mindanao. After the Walk for Peace, representatives of Islam and Catholics united to sign the peace agreement to end the war and seek peace in the world, along with peace activist President Lee.
President Lee contributed profoundly to end the conflict in Mindanao. Local National Broadcasting Station of the Philippines reported its historical and memorial achieve peace. Local Filipino showed his gratitude to President Lee to help end the conflict in Mindanao and update peace in this world.

Man Hee Lee walk the Peace held in Seoul Olympic Park.

Man Hee Lee is an active peace leader from South Korea. He is one of the most active peace leaders. 've done many things: such as visiting many country clubs around the world trying to end the war, holding the World Peace Festival, peace walk, etc. .. I want to talk about one of his works-the Peace Walk.

Man Hee Lee held a peace walk in 2013 at Seoul Olympic Park. Over 20,000 youths from over 130 countries country PARTICIPATED. They Carried peace signs and walked 2km around Seoul Olympic Park. Different culture of 6 continents Showed up at the event. Man Hee Lee gave a speech acerca how to end the war-Regardless of position or age all people around the world must make the effort for world peace. The young leaders from Portugal, Morocco, Greece, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Thailand, etc.. Also gave a speech for the world peace and unification Korea. They Say This kind of activity will soon spread peace around the world and end the war Eventually.

<Peace Walk in Seoul Olympic Park>

I would say I have is doing what he is so amazing even though I have is over 80, I is very passionate about peace to the world and Strongly announces to the people (even to presidents) That Should end war in This Generation. I was deeply touched by his movements and thought about what I could do to make peace once again.

Youths are the main source to bring an end to the war

Recently, I have been very interested in peace activity. Especially, Man Hee Lee's speech  about the Declaration of World Peace motivated me to do so. Might I think you feel the same  way. Do you? : D From then, I Began to deeply think how youths acerca Could end the war.

Do you remember the Declaration of World Peace from the previous posting? Mr. Man  Hee Lee Said That Should youths be united and Pursue peace by agreeing not to fight one  another. As a youth myself, I feel responsible for Protecting other youths. We all know  That war is still going on in the other side of the globe. When all the youths around the  world get united and agree not to fight for the war, the politicians or the president will  not be able to drive young people in the battlefields. In order to make this in reality, we  need a practical way-joining peace organization and develop developing practical and sustainable  solutions. Thanks to Mr. Lee Man Hee, I have provided an astonishing Such method. However, the  Most Important thing is never stopping peace activity. Even though It Might seem slow in the  beginning, it will spread fast through worldwide someday. Is not this the coolest  thing-bringing peace to the world? How about being in part of it? :)

Korea, a step forward towards Unification

Lately, I saw the news of Korean President Park Geun Hye is pushing for an end of South and North Korea’s division and she actually made her moves. She met Angela Merkel, a chancellor of Germany, and shared her vision of unifying Korean peninsula. President Park mentioned Germany as a role model for a peaceful reunification.
I think the leader’s action is very significant in order to realize the ideal of unification. If the leader only makes a speech of peace and not put into action, the peace will never proceed. So, I think President Park’s move is a good start for proceeding and took one step forward towards Korea unification. If a leader takes an action, the rest of the citizens will follow eventually. Of course, it takes time; it might take longer or shorter than you think. You know that Germany took 45 years. Korea has been divided over 60 years and it is time to make a move! I, personally, want to see Korea unification while I’m in Korea. I always felt sorry for the separated families and the poor surroundings of the North. I hope all of this will be solved when Korea gets united. Korea fighting! :)

Spring Spring Spring!

After the cold and harsh winter, spring has come back. The frogs and snakes are climbing up the grounds and the squirrel is waking up his winter sleep. Most of all, can’t you smell and feel the warm breeze that was different before? Because of the warm wind and atmosphere, the flowers are also waking up. Now the hills and gardens that were brown and dark are freshening up again with colors of all kinds.
We can see that spring comes with the flowers on the streets. The representing flower that we can choose is 개나리(kye-na-ri) in Korea. 개나리 is an flower that blooms in March or late April, and all around the country. This is why the flower is called “The flower that informs spring.” 개나리is almost every where. Especially on the side of the streets. Don’t just pass by the lovely flowers. If you look closely, you can see little but beautiful things that you can’t imagine in the nature. It was always there and if you have interest, they will always be. So have a look to the trees and plants that you can care!

Power of positive thinking

Before I go on, I want to ask you one thing: are you a positive thinker? Here’s a simple test to know if you’re a positive thinker. Imagine there is a half-filled cup of water. When you first see the cup, do you think, ‘there’s only a half of water’ or ‘it’s half full.’ If you chose the latter one, you are a positive thinker:) now we all know that positive thinking is a good habit, but we don’t know how much does that affects our lives. I remember attending a special lecture at school and the lecturer explained about the power of thinking. He told us to close our eyes and think about smelling the lemon and squeeze it into our mouth, and all of a sudden, my mouth began to water! Our thoughts affect our body hormones, so if you think of happy thoughts, your body secretes endorphin. Plus, there is a research that positive thinkers have high immunity. Therefore, if you think in positive way, you can not only relieve stress but also live healthy life. Moreover, you can quickly recover in traumatic situation. You will have the ability to carry on and eventually overcome the situation. Of course, if you are not a positive thinker, it takes practice and challenge. But, you know, think positive :) you can do it! Even the world is full of negative things, if you try to look on the bright side, then you will see the different side of the world. Or if you are already a positive thinker, you might want to change this troubled world into a peaceful place. As a positive thinker myself, I hope this world would change to a place where people can live in happiness.

Insomnia

What time do you usually go to sleep~? 10~12PM? or 2~3AM?
Right, everybody go to sleep at different times every night.
But, in modern days, lots of people, especially, students are suffering from insomnia.
One of my friends couldn't have slept all night yesterday and even went to work in this morning.

How to sleep well?

Today, i want to give you some ways for reducing sleeplessness.

1. Taking a walk for 30 minutes every morning
The fact that somebody has insomnia means that the biological rhythms is already broken.
Exposing to the sun can help secretion of melatonin, which restores biological rhythms.

2. Turning off light when you sleep
Lighting let you not sleep easily by awakening your brain.

3. Drinking milk
Proteins inside milk are effective in inducing sleep

4. Adjusting the amount of sleep
Many the insomniac normally make up for their sleepless times, but this habit is good for solving the problem.

With the above ways, hope you overcome from insomnia wisely and find your biological rhythms soon!!
All right, you can do it!

Language

These days in modern society, English is common language that most of the people can speck. Many people able to speak English and many countries take English as their second language in their education system. (It could be interpreted as a superiority of certain language. But as you know, there are no standard that can distinguish which language is better than another.)Therefore, many people want to speak English fluently.

How shall we do in order to speak a certain language fluently? Each every language has its culture in the words. For Example, "I love you" has a different feeling compare to "사랑해" which means exactly same. Learning a language is something beyond memorizing words. When we learn a language, that means we are learning its culture and meanings inside that word.
When you are learning a new language, I'd advice you to ask this question to yourself "Do I understand the meaning of your mother language?" If you do not, how can you learn another when you can not understand your own? My point it that, learning a new language at the age when child's mother tongue is not fully stabled, it could confuse one. I'm not trying to scare you about learning new language. Studying new language helps us to know more about the culture and communicate with new people. I just want to say learning new language would be effective when one's mother is stable. I just want to point out that sometimes learning a second language becomes prior than building one's first language.

One ball makes one !

One ball makes one !

Even though you speak another language or in a different culture than others, or even can’t communicate with a foreign friend, you can communicate with sports. I sometimes play and watch soccer with my friends, and this was the conclusion. You can make friends even though you can not communicate; this is not a problem at all! Just bring a soccer ball, or a ball that you can play with, and that is it. It is an easy way to meet others. This way, you can easily open others mind and heart to you. Although you can not say or understand completely, or deeply, but this way you can at least start. Because the rules and passion of winning is the same with people you can be one.
And the funny thing is that, if you are a person who doesn’t have a national characteristic, when you are watching a soccer match or the Olympics he or she becomes the representative of the nation. This is what people are. We are proud of the person who we are even though we like it or not.
The Brazil World cup is coming up starting this June. It will be held in Sao Paulo, Curitiba and over other 10 cities. Many soccer fans will be coming and watching the games. And all the inner personalities will come out at that time also. This was always like the games before. Are you counting the days and are you looking forward to it? Well, don’t forget that these kinds of games will make people one, not only with the people of the same nations, but with all the people around the world.

How to make a good conversation

In Korea, there is an idiom, “a soft answer turns away wrath, or good words are good cheap.” It means that you get paid off debt by a soft talk. It is totally agreeable especially our communication range got broader from our daily social life to SNS; we communicate with TOO many people which mean you are communicating with more people who get on your nerves! How will you handle their offensive talk? You might think ‘what’s the big deal?’ but a lot of Korean celebrities who killed themselves because of malicious comments on the internet. Even though you might not notice, the effects of the words are huge.

So, how do I handle them? Fight back? But did it really work out when you fought back? No, not really. Sam Horn, the author of ‘Tongue Fu,’ tells us that we have three choices in this case:
1. Change the opponents
2. Change the situation
3. Change YOURSELF

She says that the first choice is impossible and the second choice is ineffective. The last choice is suitable, but it takes challenge. However, if others cannot change, YOU are the one who have to be changed. William Blake said “be an informed innocence.” Don’t be naive, maintain the innocence but be wise. Talk softly in a respectable way first, but strongly appeal your situation or opinion, and try to ignore the offensive talks about you. Do not panic! Be strong.

Spring in Korea

The last cold snap is in the air these days. After the cold winter, it seemed that spring was coming, but it be came cold again. At this kind of weather, we shouldn’t be carelessness, and be ready for the cold. Since the weather is unpredictable, wearing many thin clothes would be wise.

How's spring in Korea?

In Korea, people call this kind of weather, “꽃샘추위(gotsemchuwe)”. 꽃 means flower, 샘 means jealous, 추위 means the cold. In the early spring, like the weather is jealous of the flower blooming, it suddenly gets cold for a while. This is what we so called '꽃샘추위'. The Siberia air mass gets weaker around late February or March, people think spring came, but all of a sudden, the air mass becomes stronger for a while. This only happens in Korea’s spring. People feel that the last cold snap starts in late February until April but actually this happens starting from March to May.

So don’t put off your guard what you have to wear. Remember after the hard times of the winter ends, there is spring waiting for you. Every cloud has a silver ring they say, the last cold snap means the spring is near right outside our doors.

Pudding

How was your day, was it good?
Today, for the first time in my life ever, I finally tried German Pudding.
Its texture was really smooth, and it looks like a regular jelly.
One of my friends who came from Germany, cooked it for me and other friends after the class, which was very nice of her.

She cooked Vanilla Pudding.
The procedure was quiet simpler than I thought, she used milk, sugar, vanilla powder to make it. It has a nice flavor and it only takes a few simple ingredients and  easy recipe, isn't it so?
Plus, it was fun to make it

If you are bored with coffee and snack that you have every day, I recommend you to try a new, unexperienced dessert such as German Pudding.
It would give you a little joy in mundane routine.

International Women's Day

What words come into your mind when you think of woman? Small, weak, sensitive, nurturing, motherhood, obedient? That's probably most people think as a stereotype image of woman. It is true that when we look in the history, women's image was always dominated by men. They were not treated as a human being but a possession of men. Their human rights were not guaranteed, so they had no position in the society for a long time. But thankfully, now days, women's position is getting higher! :)

Every year on march 8th is International Working Women's Day. It started in August 1910, at New York to commemorate 15,000 women who were burned by the fire while they were working in a poor working condition. The following year, on March 19, 1911, International Women's Day was marked for the first time, by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Women demanded that women be given the right to vote and to hold public office. They also protested against employment sex discrimination.

<The first demonstration in 1908, New York>

In Korea, the International Women's Day was held starting in 1920. It stopped for few years, but it continued in 1985. This year, it held in Cheonggye Plaza, Seoul. They had a big Korean women conference called, "Jump to catch hope,"

<Korea International Women's Day>

I never realized how I'm living in a good condition. I know there are countries that still discriminate women and treat them like animals. I feel so sorry for them and wish this demonstration spread more widely and speak for those who cannot stand on their rights, and I should be thankful for my surroundings.

Peace Demonstration

I usually don’t like watching the news because they don’t tell a lot of good news but have stimulating contents such as sex crime and violence. However, I sometimes read online news article, and today, I found an interesting news article about peace demonstration by Korean comfort women. They had regularly demonstrated every Wednesday in front of the Embassy of Japan in Korea over 20 years. The Wednesday Demonstration was listed in Guinness Book of Records as the world’s oldest rally on a single theme.

<The Wednesday Demonstration>

Other peace movement was held in the US in opposition to US involvement in Vietnam War in 1960s. Not only US, Canada also has a diverse peace movement, Germany and United Kingdom during Cold War, had peace movement that was concentrated on the abolition of nuclear technology. The peace movement is actually a world-wide movement.

I am not just talking about the demonstration; I was more interested about the fact that it was a peace demonstration. It is not easy for victims to react in peaceful way, but I think they were wise to protest peacefully because if you use violence toward enemies, it will only worsen the situation. By doing the peaceful movement, the world will recognize your act someday and people will be touched by it.

Jackie Chan’s Dream

Do you know the Chinese action actor who is an actor and director himself? Okay, this is another clue. Kungfu? Yes, he is Cheong Long, known as Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan is born in Hong Kong and learned Kungfu, dancing and other handicrafts when he was seven. He was a stunt man in one of Bruce lees films and makes his debut in 1970. After that hes movies became popular because of the fun and comedy that gave people. Also his acting without a stunt and the many faces he makes the movie more interesting. Until now he still makes movie that can make people happy and glad.

From Jackie Chan, there are many things that we can learn and think from his words and actions. He does many volunteering for the society and also cares about the environment. In an interview, Jackie said that hes dream is to make a bomb that can make people happy when it explodes. Like this, Jackie wants a place, a world that is full of happiness. This is what he wants where here is no war or fight. His dream is World Peace he said. Not only people who have money or honor in the society can do this. If we help one or each other, this can be the world that we can face. Just making I and other people happy in your best way, make it. This is the key and the way world peace can come.

The Help

I would really like to introduce a movie, 'The help'.
If you ask me what kind of movie it is, my answer is that this is the one people have to watch at least once in their life.
'The help' can let you think deeply about racial discrimination.

Little bit about the historical background of movie, the north won the American Civil War in 1865. Therefore Racial discrimination was banned legally at that time.
But actually racial discrimination was thoroughly segregated in the south.
This movie shows us a life between a 'white' women who belongs to the upper class and a 'black' women working as a housekeeper.

The Help, 2011
As I watched movie for two hours, I felt frustrated about the unfair treatment they received at that time. Though it also has a few humorous scenes, .

I have been lost in a thought after finishing movie, thinking that these kinds of racial segregation should never be repeated in the present and the future.
If it is still lasted somewhere in this world,

I would love to recommend this film which can make you to think about the discrimination and the way to build peaceful relationships with people with various backgrounds.

The effect of drinking water

It's getting warmer these days and we feel hot sometimes.
Short-sleeve shirts, short pants people are taking out of closet that hasn't been opened for long winter season.
And more people are walking with holding water bottle.

Isn't is quite suprising that as weather changes, our body reacts to it?
The warmness is giving a sign us to drink more water and often.
So, i want to inform you of some advantages of drinking water that gives us.

The effect of water
1.Water can help your diet by accelerating your blood circulation, therefore the body fat can be reduced and you can have a fast metabolism
2.It relaxes your mind and is good for fatigue recovery by supplying moisture to brain cells.
3.It is good for your skin and constipation by helping excreting waste matter from your body

As you know, the human body is composed of 80% water, It must be important and essential as well for us to be conscious of that.

With this warmness, what about drinking water more often?^^

Ring the World Peace Bell!

Do you know a beautiful place in Korea other than Seoul? I know that most of people especially young generations like to travel around the city, but I recommend you to visit Peace Dam and the World Peace Bell Park in Hwacheon:-)

The Peace Dam is a South Korean dam on the Bukhan River. Its purpose was to stay away from possible flooding from Imnam Dam in North Korea collapse. The dam was built in 1987 and completed in 2005. During its construction, it halted for a bit because there was a threat from North Korea, and in September 2005, North Korea released massive amount of water without any warning. However, it stayed strong and still beautiful.

<Peace Dam>

Near Peace Dam, you can easily find the World Peace Bell Park.

<World Peace Bell>

Along with the bell, the bell tower is built and decorated with empty shells, as well as handprints and messages from Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Other bells donated by different countries are also on display, and there is a corner where you can ring them. Moreover, there are postcards featuring Ethiopian and local children's messages of peace, as well as artifacts from war zones that remind visitors of the tragedy of national division and how war should never reoccur.

The bell was made from empty cartridge cases from battlefields all over the world. In the upper side of the bell, there are figures of doves without a wing. It is said when Korea gets united, they will put the other wing on the figures. I was very impressed and deeply moved. I could feel that Koreans are yearning for unification and peace. Even as a foreigner myself, I wish for Korea unification and ring the World Peace Bell on the day of unification!

The rainbow song, peace & love

The rainbow has 7 colors that we know, but if we look close we can see that it has colors more than we think it is. It is like this world. We have all kinds of people who live around this world. Everyone is precious so that we have to respect each individual. It is like the rainbow. It has many colors in it, but when the rainbow in altogether, that is when it is most beautiful. Being and living together with others are the same. We have to be with the nations in this world to shine our light to this world.

Guernica (painting) by Picaso

It is getting warmer these days and I’m so delightful to feel the warm breeze again. Since beautiful sunny days began, you might be thinking of going for a walk in the park or going to down town and enjoy cultural life. That’s what I’m doing right now. I’m enjoying a cup of coffee at Starbucks in downtown thinking how I’m going to spend my leisure time. If you have no idea how to spend your leisure time like me, I recommend you to go to an art gallery.

Few days ago, I spent a profitable day at Picasso’s art exhibition, and I want to share one of his works with you that I was deeply impressed. The title of the painting is called, “Guernica.”

Guernica by Picaso

It is painted in 1937 by Pablo Picasso. As you can see in the painting, it is disastrous: dead people, crying mother, screaming person, and animals panicking. Picasso pained in response to the Nazi’s devastating bombing practice on Basque town of Guernica during Spanish Civil War. At about 16:30 on Monday, 26 April 1937, commanded by Colonel Wolfram von Richthofen, warplanes of Germany bombed Guernica for about two hours to test out new weapons and tactics. Later, intense aerial bombardment became a crucial preliminary step in the Blitzkrieg tactic.

This work has been a symbol of anti-war and an embodiment of peace. I felt impressed not only of his work, but also his bravery of reacting against Nazi. He took a risk of being caught and killed by Nazi since Nazi was dominant at that time. I wish I had guts like him. I hope to create a piece of work about peace that can move people’s heart and have influence in the society. What about you? You can do it also! It might look trivial at first, but it will affect the world someday:)

As the time goes by…

Today I was checking my old email account and saw many letters that came in my mail box. Since I didnt use it for quite a while, there were over 6500 emails that were waiting for me to read them. But almost every email were advertisements from companies that wanted me to buy there products. This is why so many people now dont care or think emails are important anymore. Of course, from the companies that communicate each others with emails use this frequently. But for the general people, they do not use it like before. There was a time when, our hearts fluttered receiving an email that came from a friend. But now, because this has became too common, we flutter to letters that wore written personally by the persons own hands. This is the matter of value. If we have it enough, we forget how precious things are. This way, we think that things were meant to be just the way it is. But actually, when the thing vanishes out of our site that is when we notice that was the thing that made me happy.
Count the things around you and be happy with it. Think about the people who are willing to get the things that I have. If we think it this way, we will know the precious values around us. Thank and be joyful to what you have in your hands now. Before it is too late.

Civil defense training

Today, on 14th of March, there was siren ringing all over the cities in Korea. All the traffic stopped, and there were police officers everywhere. Is the war happening? Maybe the invasion of North Korea? No, it was just civil defense training. To Koreans this is just a thing that happens sometimes in a day. So if this happens, everyone is just indifferent. But if you are a foreigner and didn't know about this, or never heard about it before, you may freak out. Calm down and just stay in the place you were. If you were outside just go where you were planning to.

Because Korea is a country where potentially war can happen, this kind of training is necessary. Sadly but this still go along all around Korea. Why? Because we have to prepare if there will be and attack from the North. Although this training became very formal to Koreans, people think this is important for the possibilities of war.

Even it has been over 50 years since the Korea war ended, Koreans still have to worry and live a life that has to fear about the war that can happen. The training is only for about 20 minutes but it reminds us the war that killed many of our families and friends long ago. The more we sorrow about it is that we had to fight with our nations. Hope there will be a day that we don't have to worry about the war or the conflict between the North and South. Hope that the day we can live in peace and happiness can come soon in this world, land that we live in.

Graduate Institute of Peace Studies

It is true that in the 21st century, all people including you and I are advanced by science and technology and most of the people believe that made us better lives because it made our world globally and eliminated boundaries among nations which made easier to increase materialism by international trade. The second cause is the reason that I don’t think people is living a better life. Because of its increase of materialism, the human dignity has fallen to the ground. People value materials than human rights, and this has been so long that we can easily see this world is a dehumanized society.
You already know the world is degrading and deep down in your heart, you also want peace. Everyone does! Many people are trying hard to make peace. I even saw a school in Korea that was established for the purpose of making peace. It is a graduate school of Kyung-Hee University, Graduate Institute of Peace Studies.

The school introduces itself:

Established to play a vital role in the creation of a new global society, one that will be spiritually beautiful, materially affluent and humanly rewarding-a society. The Institute's purpose is to educate and train able and peace-oriented international leaders for the future of mankind. The academic program is designed to meet future leadership demands by training students to be well-rounded leaders of the future with a focus on the following:

1. Understanding Human Nature and Societies

2. Building the Power of integrated Thinking

3. Pursuit of Practical Methods to Construct a New World Order

4. Nurturing Peace-oriented Human Nature

I found this school amazing and was touched by the effort of human beings trying to make peace for the world. I hope many people will be touched by this also and try to put some effort on making world peace.
