Peace, a new start

On April 27, 2018, the whole world focused on the South-North Korean summit.

This is the third inter-Korean summit in 10 years.

" It's very sunny today. Spring is in full swing on the Korean Peninsula. The whole world is paying attention to the spring of the Korean Peninsula. Snow and ears from all over the world are concentrated here at Panmunjeom. The expectations of the Korean people and their overseas compatriots are very high. I think our shoulders are that heavy. After Kim Jong Un first came into contact with the Military Demarcation Line at Panmunjeom, the truce village became a symbol of peace, not a symbol of division." , president Moon said.

Let's not go back to square one again as we did in the past, and let's keep our minds on track. We have to live up to the expectations of those who expect us to see the future, " Chairman Kim said.

The leaders of the two Koreas agreed to push for a declaration of the end of the Korean War and a peace treaty this year.
Let's end the war together.
For all of us, the whole world must be interested in peace events to turn into a world of peace.

May 25, 2018 is the fifth anniversary of the World Peace Declaration.
The history of peace, which started in Korea, will turn around the world and bring peace to the world.
Let's shout for peace!
Every nation has a different history and thought, but we will make a sound with one dream!
Peace will be achieved!

The president of the world must sign the legislation of international law. Everyone must participate in the achievement of peace, and it can be achieved by doing. Chairman Lee said.

500,000 signatures collected for the Legislate Peace Campaign

Chairman Lee of HWPL

“Today, marking the 3rd anniversary, at this very moment, our family of peace must be having their eyes and ears in this place…What we are ought to leave to our future generations is the common good of mankind, peace. There is no greater legacy than peace and it is not achieved by one person. Therefore, we all must become messengers of peace,” said Chairman Lee of HWPL in his commemorative address.

SeoulRepublic of Korea – 300,000 people gathered simultaneously in hundreds of cities including SeoulNew York City, Sydney, and Shanghai for the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace: Legislate Peace Campaign hosted by HWPL on 25 May 2016 in their respective time zones.

Filled with vibrant people yearning for peace, the event at the World Peace Gate in Seoul Olympic Park especially captured the eyes of many. This year’s commemoration highlighted the global peace advocacy movement, Legislate Peace Campaign, recently launched to bring all wars to an end by establishing an enforceable law compatible with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The DPCW is unique in that it includes provisions aimed at resolving conflicts, reducing war potential, repurposing weapons to benefit humanity and inviting all citizens to participate in the active promotion of a lasting culture of peace.
The Legislate Peace Campaign calls on global citizens to unite as one to voice their positive demand for peace by adding their signatures. According to HWPL, as of May 25th, the collected signatures have exceeded 500,000 from 154 countries in less than two months and many heads of state have written official letters of support for the DPCW. The number of signatures is expected to reach 2,000,000 by the end of this year.

Since the proclamation of the Declaration of World Peace on 25 May 2013, HWPL has proposed its international law initiative to draft a legally binding instrument for all States to adopt that ultimately promotes a culture of peace and ceases all wars through the DPCW. A Korean youth leader said at an interview, “The organization has already made great progress in achieving its peace initiatives. It’s exciting to see what the next work will be.”

The event in Seoul was live streamed through the HWPL homepage and real-time photos and videos have been posted on the Legislate Peace Campaign Facebook page.
3rd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace is an annually and internationally celebrated event to commemorate the proclamation of the Declaration of World Peace presented by Chairman of HWPL on 25 May 2013. It Depends on you

Even the strongest man in the world, or the weakest Grandma, how can we make them move? It may look difficult, but actually very simple. To make a person move what you need is a 'word'. Simple isn't it? But let's think like this. If you ask someone to do something will it be that easy to make the person move? Actually "No" would be the answer. What we need most is the mind and heart to do something. If you have that or make someone have it, that is when you can make that person move. The willing to do something. This can change the world. Even oneself.

In this video clip, you can meet Jim Wolf, who is a Army Veteran of the United States. He although was homeless but in the end he had the will to change his life. So first of all, his appearance changed, and then his heart. But we should know that the people who has the will can change anything that they want. Not only oneself but also others as well. Look at the great change that is transformation made to this person. Not only the appearance you can change you and the world too. This is the key to make peace and to bring it to the world.

For the world without war!

Some days ago, I was talking with my friend. He was from another country. To learn Korean he came to Korea, and was talking in Korean. To speak another language is not easy, so to speak in that way, it was very interesting. But he told me another story that made me more interesting. One day when he was talking to a Korean friend, all of a sudden, the topic became ‘Historic’. Because he was from Mongolia, Genghis Khan became the subject. With all the talking about war and the victory that he made, suddenly they were talking about the war in this century. And the words started to start with “What if.” My friend told me that the most interesting question was, “What if we meet in the century of Genghis Khan? Do you think we still could be friends?” Well, because my friend and his friend are friends now, but could have that happened in the past? Frankly I think no. Because of no communication and also the desire to get much more lands, “No” is my answer. There could have been some, but not common. So if we meet even our friends in a different era, the friendship and everything could have been a total different story. How sad to think of it! The people who fought for their countries could have been friends if it was today!

Still the world that we live in has war. But to make a place that we can live in peace is the assignment that we need to solve in this generation. Would you perfer to have many friend around the world, or to fight with them? Let us not repeat the mistakes that our forefathers made. By doing this, we can make a better world. Of course a world that is more closer to peace.

DMZ

The 38th parallel was created after the end of the Second World War when the U.S. and the Soviet Union divided the Korean Peninsula for their military stationing each in South and North Korea. Later, with the conclusion of an armistice formally ending the Korean War, this military line was transformed and hardened into today's Demilitarized Zone(DMZ).

DMZ means many thing to us. It remind us of painful memory of Korean war which was unforgettable fratricidal tragedy making us solemnly. And it is ecologically important. Priceless resources are being preserved, and rare animals such as Nemorhaedus goral raddeanus(kind of sheep) live in there. So DMZ is like a big natural ecological park

Many people think that Korean war was over. But it is not termination but ceasefire. There is still peril of recurrence. So we should achieve peace as soon as possible. It is for world peace and also for separated families. I hope that all people think of DMZ as a symbol of restoration of peace and a priceless heritage.

Peacemaking song

Maybe you've heard the song 'Heal the world' sung by Michael Jackson at least once. Michael Jackson was one of the most popular singer in the world and many people know and sing his songs. During his life time, he hoped the world peace. So he made the song to show his thought of the world peace. He said to his fan that he was proud of composing 'Heal the world'.
Still there are many social, religious dispute and continuous anti-peace incident in this world. So many people want the world peace nowadays. There are many ways of expressing and practicing peace. I think that singing a peace song could be one of that. So why don't we sing a peacemaking song together, and make one more step closer to the finish line of the world peace?

Heal the world - Michael Jackson

There’s a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You’ll find there’s no need to cry
In this place you’ll feel
There’s no hurt or sorrow

There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place

Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

SAY NO TO RACISM

Have you heard about the campaign 'Say no to racism'? It is the campaign to banish the racism and it was the title of the '2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup'. In sports games, it is very sensitive thing. And it is strictly punished when someone expressed racism related action or word.
For example, at LIGA BBVA the Spain soccer league, Daniel Alves(FC Barcelona) suffered racial discrimination. Fan of opponent team, threw a banana that means 'a monkey'. This incident spread to SNS(Social Networking Service) widely and many people criticized about that.
The purpose of sport is gathering our different mind and making peace over the conflict including racism. So, I think that committing racism in sports games means breaking the peace. When you play sport, keep this in mind and let's think about the spirit of sport and making peace together. World peace could be start by a little thing that we didn't think about.

Peace comes beyond the nationalities

Peace comes beyond the nationalities

It's an article about Mr. Lee appointed as first ambassador of Romani people. When I first saw this article, it was surprising that person with different nationalities become ambassador of other people. It really shows that peace is sharing culture and understanding each other. Working to achieve peace has to be beyond the nationalities and when we all grab our hands for world peace, that is the time we bring about final peace. I hope this be the model to others to make peace within us.

Actions speak louder than words

Actions speak louder than words

Actions speak louder than words'. Most of us may have heard of this proverb. It is one of the famous proverb showing that what we do is more important than just saying things. I want to apply this proverb to achieving peace. There are lots of people who have mentioned about peace. On the other hand, there were also people try in many different way to achieve peace. You can probably think of some people or movements that had bring changes in this world. Most of us, or maybe all of us says we want world peace. However, how many of us are really working or least trying to bring peace? It might seems hard or a thing that only professional people can do, but the answer for this is, no. Only a few people cannot bring world peace in this world. World is not a small house consist of 4 or 5 people. Because there are so many people living in this world, we all have to try hard to achieve our hope, world peace. One person might be hard to make difference, but if we get together, I am sure, we can all live in the peaceful world in the future.

International Day of Peace

September 21st is the International Day of Peace (or World Peace Day). It was set by the UN in 1982 as a purpose to dedicate to world peace and end of war and violence. In the beginning of the celebration, the Peace Bell which is casted from coins from all around the world is rung at UN Headquarters which is in New York. Last year, it was dedicated by the UN Secretary-General to peace education. This year, the theme is the “Right of Peoples to Peace”. It is a 30th anniversary that offers a unique opportunity to reaffirm the United Nations commitment to the purposes and principles upon which the Organization was founded. The Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace recognizes that the promotion of peace is vital for the full enjoyment of all human rights.

We do not want war!

What if the world ends? If so, how will it end? There are many movies or books, articles about the end of the world. There are lots of hypothesis about how will it end. Some say it will end with pollution, some say with war, some on the other hand say it will happen with Apes. There was a movie about apes in the year 1968, ‘Planet of The Apes’. In the movie, the story is about humans and apes that try to live together and be exist among others. But from the greed and desire from the people, suddenly the peace among two species corrupted. This movie has total 5 series, and it was remade by Rupert Wyatt in the year of 2011. The first series was called ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’. And after 2 years, the second series ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ was released in the theaters. The story is about how Apes and the humans try to achieve peace together again. Even in the ape’s world, peace is what they want because that is the key to live and to survive with others. So the leader of the Ape’s named ‘Caesar’ tries to help the humans to try to maintain peace and make a world with it, but something goes out wrong.

This is a video clip in the movie where Caesar comes to the human land and clams that they do not want war, so hope that they live in peace. What we have to think about is that, no one wants war. Even the animal and the earth wouldn’t want it either. Because this is an SF movie, the Apes can talk, so they can express their feelings, and speaks out they do not want war. What if in the real life animals can talk? Ask them if they want war too. No creature, not even one insect will say yes.

In the movie there are many scene that tells us, want we have to do in real life. To speak short, we must love, trust others and give opportunities to understand and know the real parts of others. I do not want war. Do you? Since we all do not want war, and dislike it to happen, can’t we live a life that doesn’t have war?
