Symbols of peace

This morning, I saw a white dove on the street. It was interesting to see a white dove because the white one is rare to see. However, people were trying get away from it as far as possible. People of these days consider dove as a dirty animal. I found this ironic because dove (especially white dove) was considered sacred animal long time ago.

In the story of Noah, a dove brings a freshly plucked olive leaf which is a sign of life after the Flood. So people adopted Noah’s dove and olive leaf as symbols of peace.

Along with dove, olive branch is also a symbol of peace. Back in the 5th century BC, the ancient Greeks believed it drove away evil spirits, and it also was the attribute of the goddess of peace.

Moreover, you might also know this peace sign. It is internationally well-known for the symbol of peace which was designed by Gerald Holtom for the British nuclear disarmament.
In the process of finding the symbols of peace, I not only found the symbols of peace but also songs, festivals, and even flags! It really impressed me of the fact that lots of people were yearning for peace to come. Moreover, it reminds me of the song, "Heal the world," by Michael Jackson. Like in the lyrics of the son, I hope we REALLY make a better place soon.
