See you soon!

In this world, how many people have gone through in the war? And how many war happened in this world? Then, how about the world that we are living in now? Many countries have traces of wars that happened in their countries. Almost all the countries suffered from war. Because we have the memory of war in our minds and in our heart, all the people want peace not war.
Korea is one of the countries that has a definite trace of the war. Since it is divided into the south and north, people can realize it easily. Strictly speaking, Korea is still in (the) war. We just temporarily stopped fighting. This is why the men over 20 must do the military service about for two years.

One of my friends went to the army for the service. After taking some examination of physical strength he went to the training school. But can you think of the stress he had before he went there? Because every men, except special circumstances has to go to the army for 2 years, suffers about the thinking that they are separated from the society during this period of time. They can’t call or meet their friends or family when they want to. They have to do the training and the entire course that is the army wants. Like a death –row convict, my friend was counting the day when he was out of society. After day by day he had to one by one say goodbye to his friends and the people that he cared. If you were in his shoes, what would you do? Just admit your situation? Well, like all Korean men, he is now serves the army as we speak.

On the other hand, military service in North Korea is a lot longer than the south. For ten years the North Koreans must serve their country. So, if a person goes to the army at 20, he will be back to the society when he is thirty. To sacrifice one’s youth is of course, meaningful but, if we had no war and peace in this peninsula, would this ever happen? Since we can’t change the past and the history, let us change the future by changing the present. Don’t you think living in a peace world, where you don’t have to worry about bullets flying around the air, can come? For all the youth that lives and will live in Korea, I hope there comes a day that Korea will be one. Also the custom going to the military will become a thing that happened in the past, so people will say like “There was a time when Korean men had to go to the military for two years.” And the listener will say, “Really? I can’t even think about it.” Hope Korea, and also other countries that is in war, can find and enjoy peace one day.
