HWPL Peacebuilding

On February 8, a grand peace festival entitled “We are one for Peace to attain Sustainable Development” at the Philippine Sports Stadium, Bulacan, will be held to launch nationwide peace movement throughout the country’s State Universities and Colleges.
This event is expected to have 30,000 participants including social representatives in the Philippines and international peace activists including the organizers – Volunteer Individuals for Peace (VIP) by Dr. Ronald Adamat, CHED’s Commissioner and Mr. Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), who organized this event as a peace NGO under the UN ECOSOC.

“The highlight of this peace event is to give inspiration of citizen participation in peacebuilding. Cultural performances will represent harmony under peace beyond differences in ethnicity, religion or nationality. Also, the principles of peacebuilding with civic participation and national support will be introduced – the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW),” said Mr. Ian Seo, General Director, Department of Public Relations, HWPL.
The DPCW, the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, addresses principles of conflict resolution and international cooperation for peace building such as prohibition of use of force, peaceful dispute settlement, and spreading a culture of peace through education and citizen activism, within 10 articles and 38 clauses.

As a partnership in promoting a culture of peace between the City Government of Paranaque and HWPL, there will be an inauguration of the “PEACE ROOM” in Paranaque City Public Library where peace education materials will be exhibited to inspire daily visitors. According to organizers of this project, “peace corner and peace room will be established in different libraries nationwide to raise awareness of peacebuilding to citizens.
Last January 2018, Commissioner of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and HWPL signed an MOU to promote peace education throughout public colleges in the country. Approved by CHED, peace education together with indigenous people education is now integrated in all Higher Education Institutions nationwide.

“Promoting peace education through the CHED will affect many Philippine educational institutions and play a crucial role in promoting peace in the Philippines,” said Dr. Adamat.

“We should think of how we can achieve peace. It should start by teaching peace to the youths,” emphasized Mr. Lee in his last visit to the Philippines. As a representative of HWPL, Mr. Lee, a Korean peace activist and Korean War veteran will visit in February to advocate global cooperation for peace building.

Do you know the peace group, IPYG?

Do you know IPYG?, an affiliated wing of HWPL with the purpose of protecting the youth of the world from war

I was touched by that there is a real way to achieve peace participating in the World Alliance of Religions for Peace Summit(WARP) in Seoul, Korea

The history of war in Korea was terrible.

We all know the pain of a divided nation and brothers pointing guns at each other's throats.

Who fights in the front line when war breaks out?

That' s the irreplaceable youth who never saw their days to truly blossom

Who then compensates for their lives sacrificed in the line of battle?

Our young men had to protect our lives ourselves.

We knew that peace was something that we had to do with our hands.

IPYG youths are here with a resolution to make peace with our hands

The events that we started out to become one mind, such as the Peace Handbook, the Peace Mural Drawing, and the Peace Walking Contest, brought together more than 4.6 million young people.

We will make real world peace from the start of peace events.

Life is the most precious thing in the world.

For this, we young people began to gather one by one to make peace a reality.

Our young men tried to make a peace law that would make the peace world a reality, and international law was finally completed.

End the war with international law.

Get rid of the conflict caused by religion and give the world of peace to young people.

Teach us peace and let our brothers grow up in the world of peace.

Tomorrow's decision to lead the future without war is our youth.

The answer to peace is our youth!

Tbilisi – May 28 th , 2016 – The International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) will be hosting the ‘2016 3 rd Annual Commemoration of the Peace Walk Festival’ at 12pm on the 28 th of May in Rike Park and the Bridge of Peace of Tbilisi along with Georgian youth and women organizations.

Around 1000 people will be in attendance. The title of the peace walk festival is the “Support of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and Actualization of the Peace Curriculum”, and the program consists of a peace walk, flash mob of the youth, NGO booths, and various entertainment that can be enjoyed by all citizens.

The IPYG Peace Walk Festival that is being held for the 3 rd time this year began with the proclamation of the Declaration of World Peace by Man Hee Lee, the chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in front of the Peace Gate of South Korea in May 25 th , 2013. IPYG, the head of the youth sector of HWPL, holds the peace walk festival on May 25 th every year with the youth all over the world to commemorate the declaration as well as actualize it.

The declaration that was proclaimed on that date describes the role of each sector of youth, women, press, and the leaders of each country. Three years later, on March 14 th , 2016, this declaration was actualized into the HWPL Proclamation Ceremony of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War.

On this day, around 1000 key leaders all over the world attended and HWPL proclaimed the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War. Currently, the support pledge campaign of the declaration is being held worldwide. On this day, the HWPL Peace Advocacy Committee for the Implementation of the International Law on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace made of youth and women organizations of Georgia will be performing a flash mob performance before the peace walk. And the NGOs hosting various booths during the event will participate as the coordinators of the HWPL peace curriculum of the schools that have signed an MOU as a peace academy with HWPL during fall semester.

The Peace Education that is specified in Article 10 of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War will suggest a turning point in the history of humanity that has commemorated war until now, and it will inspire the mentality of peace to leave a world of peace to the future generations as an inheritance. During the event, the participants can sign to support the declaration and receive a commemoration badge that includes the content of the declaration at the booths.

IPYG of Korea and students of ILIA University in Georgia co-hosted IPYG & IWPG Peace Seminar with youth leaders

IPYG of Korea and students of ILIA University in Georgia co-hosted IPYG & IWPG Peace Seminar with youth leaders (League of rights, Georgian youth development association, Students & youth development centre, Voice of freedom, Youth for the world, Caucasus mosaic, Young progressive leaders in Georgia, Young liberals of Georgia, Caucasus youth nexus), women leaders(President of Jewish Women’s Organization of Georgia: Marine Solomonishvili, Dean of School of Government: Nana Baramidze, President of The Georgian Culture in Georgia and Abroad) and media professionals(Mariam Bolkvadze of MIR TV) in attendance.

Under the topic of “What roles could women and youth play to realize peace?” the event took place a part of Peace Zone Project, one of the four main projects announced by IPYG in 1st Commemoration Sep. 18th World Alliance of Religions Peace (WARP) Summit from September 18th through 19th.
For the first time in Georgia, youths gathered to discuss peace with women leaders who are central in forming public opinions and media professionals who are broadcasting their voices around the world. The event was specifically organized to form a public opinion for urging of Implementation of International Convention on cessation of war and world peace.
The event started with a brief introduction of HWPL and its work to reverse the trend of violence due to recent wars and conflicts. After then, participants got together in groups of four to five to discuss different topics such as ‘Is the world peaceful these days? What could youth and women do to bring about eternal world peace?’

After a series of heated discussions, representatives from IPYG and IWPG presented specific examples of peace activities hosted by youth and women around the world. Most notable was thatin Mindanao, Philippines,Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL mediated between Catholics and Muslims and put an end to the 40-year-long religious conflict in the region.

Mr. Berdia Beridze, Vice-president of Student Assembly of ILIA University said
“While listening to creative ideas of the participants, I was able to feel strong desire for peace in Georgian people. I believe we would be able to put these into practice through IPYG and IWPG. We in ILIA University hope to expand Peace Zone Project with IPYG and I hope that public support for peace would grow starting from our university.”

Mr. Levan Gorgadze from Caucasus Youth Nexus, the presenter of this seminar said that “With HWPL, IPYG and IWPG, I hope to expand these kind of peace activities. Then I’m sure that world peace is achievable.”

Ms. Mariam Bolkvadze, a journalist and a producer of MIR TV, maintained in her special speech that “Youth and women are the center of public opinion and once they become one, neither authority nor money would be able to overcome their power. These voices would be publicized to the world through media and would change the world. As much as youths and women are working hard for peace, media professionals will also join in this movement.” She also expressed her personal expectation for the public support to expand throughout the whole Caucasus region.

The event concluded with taking commemorative group photo. Youth organizations affiliated with IPYG are discussing their plan to form a committee to hold various peace events and to establish peace zones throughout Georgia.
